Majjiga is a cool & refreshing drink apt for Summer to beats the heat.It is made with churned butter milk ,mixed with Spices.Butter Milk is called more in tamil, Majjiga in telugu, Sambharam in Malayalam,Majjige in Kannada, Chaas in Gujarat & Rajasthan ,lassi in Punjabi,ghol in Bengali.In traditional method fresh Butter milk is mixed with cold water in a pot, & hand held churner(Kavvum) is used to churn the butter Milk. Nowadays Even the mixie is also used to beat the butter Milk. Main health benefit of butter Milk is, it has high Calcium Content.Spices in Majjiga improves digestion.it is also rich in antioxidant.

Ingredients
Thick Curd - 1 cup.
Water - 3 cups.
Salt - as Needed.
Coriander leaves - 2 tbsp(Finely Chopped)
lemon - 1/2.

To Grind
Green chilly - 1.
Ginger - 1 inch.
Curry leaves - 1 sprig.
To Temper
oil - 1 tsp.
Mustard seeds - 1/2 tsp.
hing - 1 Pinch.
hing - 1 Pinch.
Preparation
Finely Chop Coriander leaves.
Method
- To thick curd add curry leaves,Ginger,Green Chilly & salt. blend it, till it turns frothy either using Mixie or Blender.
- Then add 3 cups of water beat for 2 minutes either using spoon or whisk till frothy.
- Squeeze lemon, Mix well.
- Heat the oil, add mustard seeds, when it splutters, add hing,give a quick mix. Pour over the butter Milk.
- Garnish with fresh cilantro.
- Serve chilled.
Notes
- Instead of Grinding you can finely Chop Green chillies,Ginger & curry leaves.
- you can add 2 pieces of chopped Raw mango to it.
- you can adjust the water according to your taste buds.
