Thoran is a dry curry made with any vegetable. Cabbage thoran is a dry curry made with fresh Cabbage,Coconut,shallots as main ingredient. Adding ground Cumin seeds enhances the flavour of thoran.This Thoran Goes well with Rasam Rice,Sambar Rice or Curd Rice. you can also have with chapathi's. Cabbage is recommended for weight loss in a healthy way.Cabbage is rich in Calcium,Magnesium & Potassium, which helps in bone Protection.Today we will see the preparation of Cabbage Thoran.

Ingredients
Cabbage - 3 cups(Chopped).
Shallots/Pearl Onion - 10.
Coconut - 1/2 cup.
Green Chillies - 2 -3.
Cumin seeds - 1 tsp.
Turmeric - 1/4 tsp.
Salt - to taste.
To Temper
Mustard seeds - 1/2 tsp.
Curry leaves - 1 Sprig.
hing - a Generous Pinch.
Coconut oil - to fry.
Preparation
Shred or chop the cabbage.
Finely chop the Pearl Onions.
Method
- Dry Grind Coconut,Cumin seeds,Green Chillies,Turmeric & Salt.Now Coconut Mixture is Ready.
- Mix this Coconut Mixture with Chopped Cabbage & Shallots.Let it sit for 5 minutes.
- Heat the Coconut oil,add Mustard seeds when it splutters add Curry leaves & hing.
- Now add Cabbage Mixture. Saute in high flame for 2 minutes.
- Then keep in Sim mode.Cook it covered.Saute now & then till cabbage is Cooked & it turns Soft.
- Serve with Rice.
Notes
- Adding Pearl Onions gives nice taste to thoran.
- Instead of dry Grinding Chillies,you can chop the chillies also.
- Add Chillies according to your spice level.
- you can serve Thoran with Sambar Rice,Rasam Rice or Curd Rice.
