Ginger Coriander Chutney (Allam kothimira Pachadi) is a classic chutney recipe made with Ginger,Coriander leaves, lentils & Coconut. It goes well with idli, dosa & curd rice too. It can also go inside spreads like sandwich & Kathi rolls . Coriander seeds boost immunity & aids digestion. It also helps in weight loss.

Ingredients
Coriander leaves - 2 cups (tightly Packed).
Channa dal - 1 tbsp.
urad dal - 1/2 tbsp.
Ginger - 1.5 inch.
onion (medium size) - 1.
coconut - 1/2 cup.
tamarind - small Piece (Gems size).
Green chillies - 4.
salt - as needed.
oil - as needed.
To Temper
Mustard seeds - 1/2 tsp.
cumin seeds - 1/2 tsp.
urad dal - 1 tsp.
Curry leaves - 1 sprig.
Red chillies - 1 .
hing -a Generous Pinch.
oil - to fry.
Preparation
wash & clean the coriander leaves, but you can use tender stems.
Method
1. Heat the oil, add chana dal, urad dal. when dal turns Golden brown , add Green chillies & chopped Ginger.
2. Saute till Green chillies turns colour. Then add chopped onion.
3. Saute till onions turns pink.
4. Then add chopped coriander leaves.
5. sauté till coriander leaves shrinks.Then add coconut give a quick mix.
6. Transfer it it into a mixie & add Gems size tamarind & Salt.
7. Grind into a smooth paste, with little water.
Tadka preparation
8. Heat the oil add mustard seeds. When it splutters add cumin seeds, when it sizzles add urad dal, curry leaves, hing & Red chillies. Saute till urad dal turns its colour. Then pour this tadka over the chutney.
Serve with idli, dosa & curd rice.
Notes
- you can also use tender stems to make this chutney.
- instead of big onion you use small onions also.
