Horse Gram Chutney is a Healthy Chutney Recipe, it pairs well with idli & Dosa. It is Rich in Nutrients & also have phosphorus,calcium, Protein & iron. It also has plenty of fiber, which helps in Weight loss.
KOLLU CHUTNEY
Prep Time : 5Ingredients
Horse Gram (kollu/Ulavu) - 1/4 cup.
Cumin seeds - 1/4 tsp.
Pearl onions - 12.
Garlic - 5.
Red chillies - 3.
tamarind - Gem size.
Coconut - 1/4 cup.
oil - 1 tsp.
To Temper
Mustard seeds - 1/2 tsp.
Curry leaves - 1 sprig.
Hing - a Generous Pinch.
oil - 1 tsp.
Preparation
Remove the skin of Pearl onions.
Method
1.Dry Roast the Horse Gram till it turns slightly brown & also you get Nice aroma of Horse Gram . Then transfer it to a plate.
2.Add a tsp of oil, when it is hot add cumin seeds,when it sizzles add Garlic, Red chillies.
3.Saute Garlic, till it turns slightly Golden brown. Then add pearl onions.
4. Saute till it turns Golden brown , then switch of the flame.
5. Then Transfer this sauted items to mixie, along with Roasted Horse Gram, tamarind,coconut & salt.
6. Add little water, & grind it to a little coarse Paste.
7. Heat the oil, add mustard seeds. When it splutters add curry leaves & hing. Then pour this Tadka over chutney.Mix well.
8. Serve with idli or dosa.
Notes
1. you can Replace pearl onions with Big onions.
2. you can add 1 tsp of coriander seeds, while sauteing cumin seeds for different taste.
