Mamidikaya Pesara Pachadi - Raw Mango Moongdal Chutney

 Mamidikaya Pesara Pachadi is a tangy chutney made with Raw Mango & Moong dal. It Goes well with idli,dosa & steamed Rice.

Mamidikaya Pesara Pachadi

Makes : 1 cup. 

Ingredients

Raw Mango - 3/4 cup.

Moong dal - 1/4 cup.

cumin seeds - 1/2 tsp.

Red chillies - 3.

Jaggery - 1/2 tsp.


To Temper

Sesame oil - as Needed.

Mustard seeds - 1/2 tsp.

Urad dal - 1 tsp.

Curry leaves - 1 sprig.

hing - a Generous Pinch.



Preparation

Wash the Mango, scrap the skin & chop Roughly.

Method 

  • Dry Roast the Moong dal till it turns Golden, keep it aside.


  • Add cumin seeds, saute till it sizzles.
  • Add Red chillies,saute till it is crisp.
  • When it cools down, transfer everything to Mixie, Grind into a coarse Mixture


  • Then add Chopped Mangoes, Jaggery & salt, with little water & Grind it into a little coarse chutney.    

  • Then Temper with items listed in 'To Temper' column in a hot oil.

  • Then Pour it over a Pachadi. Serve with idli's,dosa's & hot steamed Rice. 



Notes

Adding Jaggery Gives nice taste to chutney.
