This is a festive Navratri Week, made karamani sundal. This sundal is made with sundal Podi. you can use this sundal Podi for any other sundal varieties like Rajma,Peanuts,chana, mochai sundal and so on. This sundal Podi gives some unique taste to sundal. I learnt this sundal Podi from MIL.
Karamani Sundal
Prep Time : 10 min.

Ingredients
Karamani - 1 cup.
oil - to fry.
Salt - to taste.
To Make Powder
Chana Dal - 1 tbsp.
urad Dal - 1 tbsp.
Coriander seeds - 1 tsp.
Red chillies - 2.
Dry Roast everything and grind into a dry Powder.Keep it aside.
To Temper
Mustard seeds - 1/2 tsp.
urad dal - 1 tsp.
hing - 1/8 tsp.
Curry leaves - 1 Sprig.
Preparation
Soak the Karamani/Black eyed Peas for 4 - 5 hours, and Pressure cook it, for 2 whistles or till it becomes soft.Then drain the water and keep it aside.
Method
- Heat the oil add mustard seeds,when it splutters, add urad dal, curry leaves, hing.
- When dal turns golden brown colour, add cooked karamani, then ground powder.
- Cook for few minutes till it is well combined. Now sundal is ready.
