Tiffin kuzhambu is made with Onions and Potatoes. This recipe is a Good accompaniment for idli,Dosa ,Chapathi and appam.This recipe is popular in Erode district of Tamilnadu, taught by my aunt. Easy to make at busy mornings.
Ingredients
Big onion - 1.
Green chillies - 2.
Potatoes - 2.
oil - to fry.
cumin seeds - 1/4 tsp.
cilantro - few.
To Grind
Roasted chanadal - 2 tbsp.
Coconut - 1/4 cup.
Cumin seeds - 1/2 tsp.
fennel seeds - 1/2 tsp.
turmeric - 1/8 tsp.
Tomatoes - 2.
Red chillies -6- 7.
salt - as required.
Grind everything as such into a fine paste with needed water.
Preparation
Boil the potatoes for 3 whistles, and smash it and keep it aside.
Method
- Heat the oil, add cumin seeds, when it sizzles, add green chillies, when it turns pale, add the onions, saute till it turns golden brown colour, then add the ground paste, dilute it, with 3/4 cup of water.
- Allow it to boil, till raw smell goes,(it takes 10 -12 minutes) finally add 2 smashed potatoes, stir well. let it cook for few more minutes, till everything combines well. Garnish with fresh cilantro.
- Goes well with idli, Dosa, chapathi and Appam.
