Rasam is a essential recipe in South Indian Meals.It also helps in Easy digestion.It is called Rasam in Tamil and Malayalam, Saaru in Kannada and Charu in Telugu.This rasam is made with Cumin and pepper corns Powder, and this rasam is very instant. You can also have this rasam as soup.Hot Rice when mixed with rice tastes awesome.

Ingredients
Tomatoes - 2 Ripe & juicy Tomatoes
Pepper corns - 1 tsp.
Cumin Seeds - 1 tsp.
salt - as needed.
Tamarind - small piece.
Cilantro - few.
curry leaves - 6.
curry leaves - 6.
To Temper
Ghee/oil - 1 tbsp.
Mustard seeds - 1/2 tsp.
cumin seeds - 1/2 tsp.
cumin seeds - 1/2 tsp.
Curry leaves - 1 sprig.
hing - pinch.
Preparation
- Dry Grind cumin seeds+ peppercorns in a blender or mixie to a fine powder.Now Rasam Powder is done.
Method
- Take a bowl,add piece of tamarind, add 1 + 1/2 cup of water, add tomatoes, mash tomatoes and tamarind well with hand, till tomatoes and tamarind,gets completely incorporated in water.
- Add peppercorns+cumin seeds powder & salt.
- Cook in low flame. till you get the froth. Then Switch off the flame.
- Meanwhile add Ghee in a kadai, once it is hot, add mustard, when it splutters add cumin seeeds, when it sizzles add curryleaves and hing, saute for a minute and pour over Rasam.Finally garnish with fresh chopped clinatro.
- Cook the Rasam in low flame.
- Rasam should not boil much.Once it started boiling switch off the flame.
- You can make Pepper+cumin powder, in advance and store it in a container, and we can use it whenever necessary.
- you can reduce the quantity of water, and add toor dal water instead.
- you can crush 2 garlic and add it to rasam, before switching off the flame.
