Popu Annam is a Andra style Tempered Rice. Popu Annam is a popular Tempered Rice in Telangana region of Andra Pradesh. Popu means Tempering and Annam means rice, so it is called Popu annam. It is usually made with rice left overs. Now we learn to make simple Tempered rice with rice left overs.
Ingredients
Cooked rice - 2 cup.
mustard seeds - 1/2 tsp.
cumin seeds - 1/2 tsp.
urad dal - 1 tsp.
chana dal - 2 tsp.
Roasted peanuts - 2 tbsp.
curry leaves - 1 sprig.
turmeric powder - 1/8 tsp.
Red chillies - 2.(broken into 2)
Green chillies - 2.
oil - to fry.
Onion -1.
Garlic -2.
salt - for taste.
cilantro - few.
Preparation
mustard seeds - 1/2 tsp.
cumin seeds - 1/2 tsp.
urad dal - 1 tsp.
chana dal - 2 tsp.
Roasted peanuts - 2 tbsp.
curry leaves - 1 sprig.
turmeric powder - 1/8 tsp.
Red chillies - 2.(broken into 2)
Green chillies - 2.
oil - to fry.

Garlic -2.
salt - for taste.
cilantro - few.
- chop the onions, garlic and chillies and keep it aside.
Method
- Heat the oil, add mustard seeds when it splutters add cumin seeds, when it sizzles add chana dal,urad dal, red chillies, green chillies, curryleaves and Garlic,saute till dal's turns golden brown colour.
- Then add chopped onions, turmeric and salt. Saute till onions turns golden brown colour. Then add cooked rice mix well. Garnish with fresh cilantro.
