Vathal killi Sambar is an Easy Sambar Recipe, Without veggies & Spice Powders. During lazy days, you can make this Sambar. Sambar is Spiced up, by adding Red chillies, so the name Milagai Killi Sambar.Milagai here Means Red Chillies. This Recipe is taught by my Neighbour Indhu. This Sambar can be made in no time.
Milagai Killi Sambar
Prep Time : 5Ingredients
Onion - 2.
tomato - 2.
tamarind - small piece (small amla size).
Red chillies/ Gundu Milagai - 5.
Turmeric - 1/8 tsp.
Salt - as Needed.
Toor dal - 1/2 cup.
Coriander leaves - few to Garnish.
To Temper
Mustard seeds - 1/2 tsp.
Cumin seeds - 1/2 tsp.
Urad dal - 1/2 tsp.
Hing - a Generous Pinch.
Curry leaves - 1 Sprig.
Preparation
1. Soak the tamarind in needed water for 1/2 an hour. Then throw the Pulp, & retain the water.
2. Chop the onions length wise. chop the tomatoes Finely.
3. Red Chillies, break into 3.
4. Soak the toor dal with Needed water & pressure Cook it for 4 - 5 whistles in a cooker, till it turns Mushy. Then Mash the dal well.
Method
1. Heat the oil, add mustard seeds. When it splutters add Cumin seeds. When it sizzles add urad dal, Broken Red chillies,hing & Curry leaves.
2. When dal turns Golden brown, add onions. Saute till onions turns translucent.
3. Add tomatoes, Saute till tomatoes turns Mushy.
4. Add turmeric, give a Quick Mix.
5. Add tamarind Exact & salt.
6. When it starts Boiling, add Mashed dal.
7. Add Needed water, let it boil till it Gets desired Sambar Consistency.
8. Garnish with Fresh Coriander leaves. Now Milagai Killi Sambar is Ready.
Notes
1. you can use Gundu Milagai, it adds more spice to Sambar.
